Winfly 2014/15 wraps up



The Antarctic 2014/15 Winfly operation concluded today with the departure from Christchurch of United States Air Force Boeing C17 Globemaster III 10-0217 heading to Hickam as "Reach 5E5"  The C17 had arrived at Christchurch 18 August and made a round trip to Pegasus Field and back 24 August as "ICE 01", then another return trip on 26 August with a third trip south on 27 August arriving back at Christchurch in the early hours of 28 August.

Skytraders Airbus A319CJ VH-VHD made its first trip from Christchurch to Pegasus Field and return 24 August and then headed south to Pegasus again on 26 August before then flying to Melbourne.  Demonstrating its diverse operations, the A319 flew from Melbourne to Sydney, Darwin and Christmas Island 27 August so a significant contrast in climatic conditions from one day to the next!
