As our USA experience drew to a close we spent just under a week around the Palm Springs area where plane spotting itself was nigh on impossible with temperatures reaching 47C - needless to say returning to the NZ winter was somewhat of a shock to the system but of course not unexpected....
A visit to the Palm Springs Air Museum was conducted to escape the heat and after negotiating our way through a sand storm we reached the much anticipated facility located on the eastern side of a very quiet Palm Springs International Airport.
We'll start with a shots of the resident B17 Flying Fortress. It has been out of the air for a couple of years or more but there are moves afoot to try and bring her back to flying status. For a small donation a personal guided tour is available and this was well worth doing.
