RNZAF Texan II Update

The first two Beechcraft T6C Texan II advanced trainers made the final leg of their delivery flight this afternoon arriving at RNZAF Base Ohakea  from Whenuapai.

N2824B (NZ1401) callsign "Classic 170" conducted a local flight from/to Whenuapai this morning and then departed early afternoon for Ohakea.

N2826B (NZ1402) callsign "Classic 177" departed on a local flight early afternoon with the flying activity centred around the Auckland CBD and environs in company with Seasprite NZ3601, acting as a communications go between and no doubt air-to-air photography platform.  The Texan concluded the city scenic and returned to the Whenuapai circuit area for a low run down runway 21 before set heading bound for Ohakea.

As can be seen in the accompanying images, the ferry tanks have been removed since the aircraft arrived at Whenuapai on Monday.

The introduction of these high performance turboprop aircraft will be a great boost to the RNZAF and we look forward to seeing them in action on the NZ airshow scene.
