One of the big days on the US calendar is the 4th of July, Independence Day. Our family vacation was planned around being in New York for the Macy's Firework display so we made sure we found a good location near the Brooklyn Bridge to see the fireworks and the brief displays by New York Fire Department vessels and New York Police helicopters. The formation of helicopters joined up east of Kennedy International and made its way slowly around the shore line to pass along the crowd line assembled in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Bridge.
A planned display by two F-18's did not materialise, perhaps on account of the inclement weather across the region earlier that afternoon.
