And yet another Royal Australian Air Force visitor......

Just as the month nears its conclusion the Royal Australian Air Force dispatched yet another aircraft to New Zealand on a training detail and this time it was the Boeing 737 "Wedgetail" A30-005.  The Williamtown/Newcastle based AWACS aircraft had departed its home port as "Ausy 254" and conducted an instrument approach at Wellington 24 March followed by a missed approach and proceeded onto Whenuapai where it has since overnighted marking what is believed to be the first visit to the RNZAF base by the 737 variant.
This particular airframe has visited NZ previously with an overnight at Ohakea soon after its induction to service during October 2010, and this was followed in March/April 2012 by A30-004 making an appearance at Ohakea for the RNZAF 75th anniversary airshow.
