"FALCON 71" - updated

Royal New Zealand Air Force Macchi MB339C NZ6471, callsign "Falcon 71" was retired from service in December 2001 following the disbandment of the RNZAF strike force. It arrived by truck at Ardmore 03 September to be displayed at the Warbirds museum.  Another Macchi, NZ6469, has recently arrived at the Classic Flyers Museum at Tauranga and media reports indicate a desire by the facilitors to make the aircraft once again flyable!

Some additional information regarding the "disposal" of other Macchi has come to light:
NZ6460 - to Wigram Air Force Museum
NZ6464 - to Ashburton Aviation Museum
NZ6466 - to MOTAT, Auckland
NZ6469 - to Classic Flyers, Tauranga
NZ6475 - to Croydon Aviation Centre, Mandeville
NZ64XX - to George Hood Aviation Museum, Masterton
Remaining airframes destined for the USA.

Happier times! NZ6471 at Ohakea, March 1993, all photos MRC
