Last Saturday, 01 September, saw the first visit of an Air NZ Airbus A320 to the southern city of Invercargill. ZK-OJO, operating as ANZ839 from Queenstown to Sydney made a techstop at Invercargill as part of a recently introduced procedure to mitigate payload restrictions imposed on departures from Queenstown under certain adverse weather conditions such as taking off on runway 05 when a 23 departure is not possible due to wind direction and speed.
