Prince William has made a special visit to NZ to spend time both in Canterbury and on the West Coast with families from the Pike River Mine tragedy. He flew to Christchurch on commercial flights 17 March and then flew to Greymouth on board Vincent Aviation's Dash 8 ZK-VAC. The Dash later flew to Hokitika with the Prince staying in a lodge near to the West Coast tome and departed this morning for Christchurch.
Royal Australian Air Force Boeing BBJ A36-002 arrived at Christchurch this morning carrying Prime Minister Julia Gillard and other VIP's for the service. The Australians have played a significant part in the rescue and recovery operation from both civilian and military personnel.
