Tuna Spotters

Over the years the tuna fishing fleet from Micronesia (primarily Guam) have frequented NZ ports to have their vessels maintained and often the resident spotting helicopter has made its way south with the ship.    The Hughes 500 and Bell 47 seem to be the flavour of those working the waves.

No doubt many more helicopters have accompanied their ship to places such as Whangarei and the like and have not been recorded but the following photos go some way to represent those that have been documented.
