Operation Deep Freeze 2015/16 is slowly ramping up with USAF C17 Globemaster activity out of Christchurch and the arrival of FAA Challenger 604 N86.
Normally chilling at Auckland but domiciled for the next few weeks to the frozen south is one of our significant contributors and while we were basking in 30C plus temperatures he's been at the other end of the spectrum!
Dazza kindly provides the following images of USAF C17 10-0220 on the ice last week. This aircraft had arrived into Christchurch 25 September from Hickam as RCH113 and flew missions south 28 and 30 September, 08, 11, 13 and 14 October before departing to Hickam as RCH982 15 October. It has been replaced on the ramp by 10-0217 with this aircraft arriving 14 October from Hickam as RCH982. 10-0217 made its first run south 16 October delivering AS350 Squirrel ZK-IDE.
