The flight operation phase of Project "Deepwave" (refer our earlier post here) has concluded with the two participating aircraft leaving Christchurch in recent days.
As covered by the blog last month, Gulfstream 5 N677F of the NOAA arrived at Christchurch on 03 June 2014 from Pago Pago. It flew its first mission on 06 June and subsequently conducted a total of 24 flights, its final operation being undertaken 20 July. It departed Christchurch 23 July for Kona.
Also mentioned last month was the expected arrival of Falcon 20 D-CMET. It duly arrived at Christchurch 28 June from Sydney where it had overnighted having flown from Utapao to Brunei and Darwin 26 June then to Cairns and Sydney 27 June. It conducted the first of 13 flights on 30 June and its final flight on 21 July with two flights being flown on 04, 11 and 13 July. It departed Christchurch 22 July for Sydney and Cairns on its return to Germany. During its time flying within NZ airspace it used the callsign "Gravity 7".
