Dash Nine takes flight

Air New Zealand's first Boeing 787-9 ZK-NZE has taken flight this afternoon for the first time since its delivery back on 11 July.

As NZ6021 the 302 seat jet lifted off Auckland's runway 23L around 1510 local time for a Civil Aviation Authority proving flight to Sydney.  It is due to return to Auckland late tonight as NZ6022 and then remain on the ground for the weekend before flying again on Monday.
