We had prepared this post in December last year, but didn't publish it as access to the register was effectively returned to "normal" however its clear the CAA have again revoked some important elements i.e. ownership/location details:
We're not normally ones to broadcast unfortunate news, but to those who watch this blog and its sister blog www.nzcivair.blogspot.com, it is sad to note that the NZ Civil Aviation Authority have been forced to remove public access to certain parts of the online aircraft register that has been available for all to view for many years now, and prior to that access was via annual published documents with monthly updates distributed by surface mail!
The website now has reference to accessing ownership data to be made via the Coordinator Official Information at oia@caa.govt.nz so many of us have already submitted written requests for the resource to be yet again made available.
A sad event for the genuine aviation enthusiasts amongst us.
