Greymouth based Air West Coast have permanently placed their Dornier 228 ZK-VIR into service flying Monday to Friday inclusive from Greymouth to Westport and Wellington each morning and over the reverse route in the evening. Services with the aircraft were started in March this year however its operation was suspended at the end of that month for a number of reasons. Piper PA31-350 ZK-VIP continued to fly the scheduled services backed up by Piper PA31-325 ZK-WSB after Air West Coast's other PA31-350 ZK-EBT crashed on a maintenance positioning flight near the owners airstrip inland of Greymouth.
The Dornier flew on a couple of days at the beginning of this month however from today, 23Oct, the aircraft will operate all weekday services.
