In terms of "exotic", I guess the arrival at Christchurch last evening of two United States Air Force Dornier 328/C146A Wolfhounds would have to sit fairly high, although they are frequent visitors to Australia.
These two interesting aircraft are operated by the 524th Special Operations Squadron (SOS) out of Cannon Air Base, New Mexico and the examples visiting New Zealand are understood to be currently deployed to Clark Air Base located on Luzon Island, Philippines.
09-3106 c/n 3106 callsign "Magma 03" and 12-3050 c/n 3050 callsign "Magma 01" were noted arriving at Sydney 07 September from Darwin via Alice Springs and last evening crossed the Tasman from Sydney direct to Christchurch.
The arrival of these two ex civilian Dornier 328's also marks a first of type visit to New Zealand - the only other visit I can recall was by a corporate configured 328Jet N821MW in late July/early August 2013 with this aircraft calling in at Auckland, Queenstown and Wanganui.
Thanks to Graham W for these early morning shots.
