Emirates introduced the Airbus A380 to Australia and NZ from 02Feb signaling the types first commercial service to and from NZ. A6-EDD, delivered to the carried in December 2008, operated the inaugural service as EK412 from Dubai and Sydney returning as EK413. Touch down was around 15mins later than scheduled at 1345 and attracted a large number of people to the airport, some say more than the number who flocked to see the first A380 visit in October last year. An Ardmore based DH82 Tiger Moth was also present at Auckland in the form of ZK-BLI which had positioned over a little earlier.
The A380 will operate these services initially three days per week until more aircraft are delivered.
