Royal Air Force Globemaster ZZ173

Royal Air Force Boeing C17 Globemaster III ZZ173 arrived at RNZAF Base Whenuapai late on the evening of 02 December from Perth as "Ascot 6696". 

While a reasonably regular visitor to Australia, to the best of my knowledge this is the first time this airframe has made its way to New Zealand. 

ZZ173 was most recently in the region during September this year when it visited Brisbane and Hobart while the last RAF C17 to visit New Zealand was ZZ174 in early April 2014 at Christchurch.

The C17's NZ visit was brief with it departing Whenuapai mid afternoon 03 December for Adelaide as "Ascot 6697".
