NOTAR ZK-IHI

During a recent visit to Central Otago I was pleased to catch up with Cromwell's resident McDonnell Douglas 600N ZK-IHI operated by Heliview. ZK-IHI is the country's sole 600 series NOTAR however we have 20 500 series and 1 900 series examples current on the register.

Thanks to Bluebus from the NZ Civil Aircraft Blog for the following:
McDonnell Douglas 600N NOTAR ZK-IHI is an early 1999 production helicopter first registered as N3047L with MD Helicopters and leased to MD Helicopter Services at Mesa, Arizona from 29-03-1999 courtesy of First Security National Bank NA Trustees. It was cancelled on 24-01-2001 and sold via Eastern Atlantic Helicopters of Shoreham to Helidirect UK Ltd on 05-02-2001 and became G-PEPL to replace an earlier example. They sold it on to Blue Anchor Leisure Ltd at Skegness from 22-12-2003. It was exported in mid August 2008 to India where it became VT-SSH with Simm Samm Airways Pvt Ltd of Juhu, Mumbai from 05-09-2008. It was noted for sale through K-Air Charters of Kochi, India in June with TTAF of 1650 hours and was purchased in September by Richard and Jolanda Foale of Heliview Taranaki Ltd  and  replaces their Bell 206L LongRanger ZK-HTK4 which has gone to Deep South Helicopters of Gore.

Check out the happy face on the tailboom fan assembly.
